One Saturday this winter, when I was working in Hamburg, we went to see the big Pixar exhibition. Andy Spilsted (our animator) and me. We got very excited by the big Zoetrope they are showing there.

Back at my workspace at Puppet Place in Bristol, David and Rosi from Rusty Squid told me that a 3d Printer would arrive soon. A Makerbot Replicator 2x. Wow!

Zoetrope – wheel of life

The idea was born. I took the bird from my story that hadn't made it into a feature film ;-) and started to make a previs of my idea (you can see on vimeo)

With help of my friend Mads Simonsen who is working at The Third Floor, I then modeled the character. I am very very happy that he is also going to do the rigging for it.

Next step will be the animation and it looks like I got Jan Maas on board for that. Really great!

There is still a long adventurous way to go!

and then Emma came in this morning and encouraged me to publish my blog (and took the photo) so here we go!
